Take Action Zoo Awareness Weekend 2022 15th -17th April 2022 Every year Freedom for Animals holds a weekend of action to highlight the suffering that thousands of captive animals in UK zoos, aquariums, and mobile zoos face. Whether it be a zoo or aquarium, or a many mobile zoos that exploit animals for human entertainment and profit, Zoo Awareness Weekend aims to shine a light on the plight of the individual animals involved. This year however, we are signing a brighter light on mobile zoos. There are currently thousands of animals in mobile zoos in the UK. From reptiles to insects, rabbits, meerkats, birds of prey and many more. Each one longing for a life of freedom, not to be held captive and forced to travel in tiny boxes, made to be handled by stranger’s day in and day out. What can you do? Report it! We need your help to report mobile zoos to us. We have a new feature on our website where you can report an event to us. Let us know: where and when the event is taking place who the event is aimed at, is it at a library, school, children’s party, or an event for adults like a birthday party? how many people are at the event how many animals or which species are at the event Report a mobile zoo Ban it! While at first sight a mobile zoo may look harmless, the stress the animals endure is most definitely not. This very unnatural lifestyle, which is similar to life in a circus, forces animals to travel for hours, to be put on show, often with nowhere to hide, experiencing busy crowds, loud noises, and bright lights. All in the name of entertainment and profit. Many of these animals are wild animals who are stressed at the very presence of humans. It is not only wild animals that are stressed, timid animals such as rabbits and guinea pigs are also unhappy about the life they are forced to suffer. Visit our mobile zoo info page here.
