George is used by a mobile zoo to entertain humans at schools, parties and events. He is kept in a box, like you would keep your sandwiches in, and he barely has enough room to move around. George will never feel the fresh air, or real trees beneath his feet like his wild counterparts do! Sadly, Chameleons are popular pets and are captive in both mobile and static zoos. They are however, fragile in nature, and have very specific needs which can never be met in captivity. In the wild, the vast majority live in trees or bushes, in warm climates with lots of space to move and run. They dislike being handled, and any small changes to the temperature, humidity, light and noise of their environment can make them seriously ill or worse.
By adopting a chameleon with us today, you will fuel our work to protect chameleons and end their captivity. You will support undercover investigations at zoos, mobile zoos and other captive facilities, to campaign, and expose exploitation, freeing chameleons and other animals from cruel captivity.
