Penguins are held captive in zoos and aquariums throughout the UK. They are kept in enclosures that can never meet their needs or match the life of their wild counterparts. In the wild they would swim in the vast ocean and only come ashore to breed and moult. Tragically in captivity, they are forced to swim in the same small space, and live in inadequate enclosures. Exploited for entertainment these animals will never make it back into the wild unless we take action.
