Sadly elephants are still kept captive in zoos and circuses to be used as entertainment for humans. This is despite the fact that these incredible animals suffer when kept behind bars. Tragically it is all too common to see elephants exhibiting stereotypic behaviours, unnatural actions such as pacing and head swaying, as a result to the stress of captivity.
By adopting an elephant with us today, you will fuel work to protect elephants and end their suffering in captivity. Sadly Kate was orphaned in the wild in India, at a very young age. Captured by humans she was then shipped from India to live her life in a UK zoo. Kate has spent most of her life locked up. Just like a prisoner, she was kept isolated for many years.
