Two weeks ago we launched our 2024 Festive Events Campaign, and we have been busy ever since identifying and contacting events that may be planning a live reindeer display. If you have already gotten involved with the campaign, you might have used our interactive map to contact events that have hired live reindeer. If you have, thank you! Your contribution really makes a difference for animals exploited for entertainment.

Today, there are 13 new events on the map! 10 events have announced plans to use reindeer, and we need you to contact them! There are also 3 new fabulous, family-friendly events that have previously hired reindeer, but this year have confirmed to us that they will be hosting compassionate animal-free celebrations. Check the map to see if if any of them are near you!

We have also been working with Lancaster Animal Protection to support their campaign to stop the ‘Reindeer Day’ planned in their city. This week their petition flew past 1,000 signatures - if you haven’t signed yet - now’s the time! We also spent Tuesday speaking with business owners in Lancaster city centre to raise awareness about the event and the risks it poses to the reindeer. Not one person we spoke to was in favour of the event, and many agreed to display LAP’s campaign posters in their windows. There are more great actions to come from these incredible activists - watch this space!
